Outdoor Learning Center

Welcome to the Outdoor Classroom located in the southeast corner of the Glenwood Elementary playground. This garden, established in August of 2010, was planted to provide an area for outdoor learning.

It is flourishing with a variety of plants such as Sedum, Dogwood, Switch grass, Butterfly Milkweed, Purple Coneflower, Prairie Gay Feather, Bee Balm, New England Aster, and more. These varieties attract many butterflies each year.

This area was provided to help students connect to nature. It is a beautiful and relaxing outdoor classroom.

Our goal is to encourage learning and exploration, which strengthens classroom instruction.  Our unique area is available to all students for various activities and celebrations.  Included in this space is a small butterfly garden, bird feeders, a sandpit for digging and exploring, a rock pile, benches and picnic table areas for seating.
